3C’s Gameplay Programmer (Unreal Engine)

Job Details

  • Freelance/Contract – (Full-time potential in the future).
  • Remote or Office
  • Location: Orange County, CA
  • 2+ years of experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain an immersive First Person Perspective pawn that captures the feel of our gameplay goals, and integrates tightly with existing game systems.
  • Collaborating and working cohesively with members of different disciplines (Design, Production, Animation, QA, etc.)
  • Write maintainable, shipping quality C++, that can be extended upon, and maintained by the engineering team as a whole.

Requirements

  • Shipped at least one product in Unreal Engine with a first or third-person perspective.
  • B.S. Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience bringing a pawn from the ground up, to a polished and shippable state.
  • Able to take initiative and pay close attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D Math and its use in gameplay systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-organize.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unreal’s animation system.
  • Good command of C++, including refactoring, optimization, debugging, and testing.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Epic’s Gameplay Ability System
  • VR Experience
  • Experience developing for multiple platforms.
  • Interest in game design, and a strong understanding of what makes responsive and intuitive game mechanics
  • Knowledge and experience of modern FPS games.

Jr Game Programmer (Unreal Engine)

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Engineering department to expand and add functionality to various gameplay systems.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and work cohesively with members of different disciplines (Design, Production, Animation, QA, etc.)
  • Take initiative and pay close attention to detail.
  • Work closely with the design team to refine and solidify systems and features.
  • Triage bugs, evaluate the impact, and narrow down potential causes.

Requirements

  • B.S. Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong foundation of OOP principles, and familiarity with C, C++ or C#.
  • Familiarity with either Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar engines.
  • Good knowledge of 3D Mathematics, and how they apply to gameplay.
  • Eager to learn and continue to sharpen engineering skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
  • Experience with VR game development.
  • Familiarity with behavior trees, finite state machines, and stateful patterns.
  • Experience working on physics-based game projects.
  • Familiarity with FPS and Action games.

QA Tester (Videogame)

Job Details

  • Hybrid – Office & Remote
  • Location: Orange County, CA
  • 0-3+ years of experience.

Job Description:

  • Identify and document defects in a clear and concise manner using the designated bug tracking database.
  • Work independently and in a collaborative QA environment, executing individual tasks and group assignments
  • Complete daily build sanity checks and key feature/function testing
  • Prepare bug reports for the Development team
  • Use automated testing tools to streamline the testing process.
  • Work with the Production/Development team in tracking down bugs and finding steps to reproduce.
  • Complete regression/verification testing daily.
  • Follow instructions and accomplish tasks as directed by production.

Individuals with the following background:

  • Ideally, 1 prior shipped title. Entry-level industry applications with project experience are welcomed.
  • Experience being a console/platform through a development cycle.
  • In-engine testing with Unreal.
  • Understanding of Software Testing Processes and Best Practices
  • Understanding of Software/Game Development Lifecycles
  • Must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Aptitude to learn quickly and effectively
  • Know when to log a bug and when to communicate to developers about progression blocking and high-priority bugs.
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Experience and familiarity with multiple gaming platforms and genres
  • Passion for Games

Bonus Points:

  • Previous JIRA database experience (or equivalent bug tracking software).
  • Experience with QA tools testing including proprietary game editing software
  • Experience and proficiency with Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft standards
