Associate Level Designer (Unreal Engine)

Job Details

  • Freelance, Remote, Temp.
  • ~ September 2022 – March 2023
  • Location: Orange County, CA

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Design team on level designs.
  • Design and greybox level spaces for use in a procedural dungeon.
  • Design and implement combat encounters, and script cinematic and gameplay events.
  • Create replayable spaces and gameplay moments that are fun for players to play time after time.
  • Collaborate with the art and creative teams to set dress atmospheric and evocative environments.
  • Playtest in-development work and effectively deliver feedback to the team.
  • Collaborate with Technical Designers and Engineers to improve level design tools.

Requirements

  • Passion for creating fun, action-packed spaces.
  • Experience designing and building single-player maps.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to describe your designs, and receive and deliver feedback.
  • Passion for learning and developing your skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • VR Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of modern FPS games.

VFX Game Artist (Unreal Engine, Real Time)

Job Details

  • Freelance, Remote, Temp.
  • Location: Orange County, CA

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Art Lead and Tech Art Lead to implement the style and vision for visual effects across the project.
  • Create beautiful and efficient real-time VFX through all stages of development.
  • Assistance in bringing our prototype temp VFX assets to final.
  • Communicate with design and engineering to make sure effects are effective and efficient.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of video game industry experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the game development process and constraints.
  • Eye for detail and ability to break down existing effects into modular assets.
  • UE4/UE5 experience (or relative experience) plus Niagara VFX System proficiency.
  • Create VFX that has a consistent quality and is efficient for real-time use.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

QA Tester (Videogame)

We are located in Orange County, CA and we’re looking for a QA freelancer to join our next full-funded project. This is a flexible hybrid position, for both remote and in-office gameplay testing.

Job Details

  • Hybrid – Office & Remote
  • Location: Orange County, CA
  • 0-3+ years of experience.

Job Description:

  • Identify and document defects in a clear and concise manner using the designated bug tracking database.
  • Work independently and in a collaborative QA environment, executing individual tasks and group assignments
  • Complete daily build sanity checks and key feature/function testing
  • Prepare bug reports for the Development team
  • Use automated testing tools to streamline the testing process.
  • Work with the Production/Development team in tracking down bugs and finding steps to reproduce.
  • Complete regression/verification testing daily.
  • Follow instructions and accomplish tasks as directed by production.

Individuals with the following background:

  • Ideally, 1 prior shipped title. Entry-level industry applications with project experience are welcomed.
  • Experience being a console/platform through a development cycle.
  • In-engine testing with Unreal.
  • Understanding of Software Testing Processes and Best Practices
  • Understanding of Software/Game Development Lifecycles
  • Must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Aptitude to learn quickly and effectively
  • Know when to log a bug and when to communicate to developers about progression blocking and high-priority bugs.
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Experience and familiarity with multiple gaming platforms and genres
  • Passion for Games

Bonus Points:

  • Previous JIRA database experience (or equivalent bug tracking software).
  • Experience with QA tools testing including proprietary game editing software
  • Experience and proficiency with Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft standards
