QA Tester (Videogame)

We are located in Orange County, CA and we’re looking for a QA freelancer to join our next full-funded project. This is a flexible hybrid position, for both remote and in-office gameplay testing.

  • Location: Orange County, CA
  • 0-3+ years of experience.

Job Description:

  • Identify and document defects in a clear and concise manner using the designated bug tracking database.
  • Work independently and in a collaborative QA environment, executing individual tasks and group assignments
  • Complete daily build sanity checks and key feature/function testing
  • Prepare bug reports for the Development team
  • Use automated testing tools to streamline the testing process.
  • Work with the Production/Development team in tracking down bugs and finding steps to reproduce.
  • Complete regression/verification testing daily.
  • Follow instructions and accomplish tasks as directed by production.

Individuals with the following background:

  • Ideally, 1 prior shipped title. Entry-level industry applications with project experience are welcomed.
  • Experience being a console/platform through a development cycle.
  • In-engine testing with Unreal.
  • Understanding of Software Testing Processes and Best Practices
  • Understanding of Software/Game Development Lifecycles
  • Must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Aptitude to learn quickly and effectively
  • Know when to log a bug and when to communicate to developers about progression blocking and high-priority bugs.
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Experience and familiarity with multiple gaming platforms and genres
  • Passion for Games

Bonus Points:

  • Previous JIRA database experience (or equivalent bug tracking software).
  • Experience with QA tools testing including proprietary game editing software
  • Experience and proficiency with Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft standards
